M4/M16 LE Type Armorers Course

Hosted by the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department, Oxford, Mississippi

Course Duration:  16hrs                  Instructional Setting:  Classroom

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to ensure a quality presentation of the skills needed to maintain, service, and repair the LE type M4/M16 weapon systems. This is an intense armorer course, as students will learn to fully disassemble, to include gas tube and barrel removal, and then build their M4 back from scratch.

 Topics Include:  

• Overview and course introduction
• Proper cleaning and lubrication
• Preventive maintenance   
• Field Stripping of the M-4/M-16 Weapon System
• Further disassembly
• Internal parts inspection
• Repair and replace
• Reassembly
• Building an M-4/M-16 Weapon System
• Function testing
• Parts interchangeability
• Performance & customization    

INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL: To instill professional skills, techniques, and basic concepts of the function of the M4/M16 weapon systems.  Each student will leave this course with the knowledge and skills necessary in order to repair, replace parts, and conduct an overall weapon system check to ensure the weapon is functionalized for issue and everyday service.

Instructor:   Deputy Commander Dean Bishop, 15^th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit. Deputy Commander Bishop has over Twenty years of Law Enforcement Experience, and is a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor in several areas of instruction to include the M4/M16 and LE Handgun Weapon Systems Armorer Instruction. In his spare time, Dean can always be found building or customizing a new M4 type weapon system, and is eager to assist the law enforcement officer in becoming a professional Weapons Armorer for their agency.
